7th Snowboard European Championships (EC-95) will be organized in Tahkovuori, finland 29th of April to 1st of March 1995. 300 best snowboarders representing 25 countries will compete in three disciplines; Giant Slalom, Parallel Slalom and Halfpipe plus the Combined for a price money of 50 000 USD. EC-95 is a part of the I.S.F. World Pro Tour, which includes tens of international events all around the world.
EC-95 -event is the first international race in Scandinavia. It's a result of negotiations between International Snowboard Federation (I.S.F.) and national snowboard associations in Scandinavia to organize an yearly Scandinavian Tour as a part of World Tour. After EC-95 two Continental Open -races will be held. One in Sweden and one in Norway. Both races are part of the international tour. The Scandinavian Chanpionships will be organized in Tahkovuori one week before (14th - 15th of March) the EC-95 event.
EC-95 is the largest international snowboard event on the European level in 1995. The event will be organized by Finnish Snowboard Association in co-operation with Finnish Snowboard Support Association, Tahko Chalet Ltd. (hotels & accommodation), Tahkorinteet Ltd. (lift company), Nilsi� Ski (organizing club), Nilsi� municipality and commercial organizations, which utilize event as an event marketing tool. The organizers are well prepared and convinced of that World Pro Tour -events will be organized continuously in Finland.
Tahkovuori is situated 450 kilometers north of helsinki and it's one of the most popular winter sport areas in Finland. Tahkovuori offers ao. a 400 meters long Snowboard Street. Snowmobiles and other activities are available. Tahkovuori welcomes its guests - snowboarders and spectators - by organazing special entertainment during the event.
I.S.F. Media Network has chosen EC-95 for full TV-production and distribution and by that the estimated TV-coverage is over 40 hours internationally! Snowboarding has become a presented sport on TV and up lifted from a marginal random activity to a new and fascinating winter sport on TV. The huge publicity and the interesting main target group (12-25 years) has created a great interest in many organizations
Top 32 men and 16 women on the I.S.F. -world ranking list will quality directly to the race. In addition national associations have right to qualify four men and two women for each discipline and one man and one woman for the Combined.
